Consider the birds

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
—Matthew 6:25-26

Every morning, I lay out birdseed along the top of our fence. We have woods and a creek behind our house, so we get a lot of birds. Several types of dove, blue jays, sparrows, finches, mockingbirds. Quite a variety.

The birds wait for me. In the trees, on the surrounding rooftops, the bolder ones even wait on the fence. They know I will be there.

I often think of these words of Jesus as I go out with my Costco box of birdseed. Jesus feeds the birds. But guess what?

He uses me to do it.

He provides for the birds many ways. But my birds? They have food because He tells me to feed them.

Who is He asking you to feed today?
